Code of Conduct

The Abuja I Believe Carnival is a celebration of culture, unity, and community. To ensure a safe, enjoyable, and respectful experience for everyone involved, we have established the following code of conduct. By participating in the carnival, all attendees, participants, volunteers, and organizers agree to abide by these guidelines.

GENERAL CONDUCT

1. Respect and Courtesy: Treat everyone with respect, dignity, and courtesy. Discrimination, harassment, and bullying in any form will not be tolerated.

2. Inclusivity: Embrace diversity and be inclusive. The carnival is a space for people of all backgrounds, ages, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and beliefs.

3. Safety: Prioritize the safety and well-being of yourself and others. Report any unsafe situations or behaviors to event staff immediately.


PARTICIPANT GUIDELINES

1. Behavior: Engage in positive and respectful behavior at all times. Avoid any actions that could harm or offend others.

2. Alcohol and Substance Use: Consume alcohol responsibly. The use of illegal substances is strictly prohibited.

3. Costumes and Attire: Wear appropriate costumes and attire that reflect the spirit of the carnival. Avoid clothing or costumes that are offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate.


PERFORMANCE AND FLOAT GUIDELINES

1. Content: Ensure that performances and float designs are respectful, culturally sensitive, and suitable for all audiences.

2. Safety: Follow all safety guidelines provided by the organizers, including those related to float construction and performance conduct.

3. Preparation: Be prepared and arrive on time for all scheduled performances and parades. Communicate any issues or delays to the organizers promptly.


VENDOR AND EXHIBITOR GUIDELINES

1. Products and Services: Offer products and services that are legal, safe, and appropriate for the carnival environment.

2. Interactions: Treat all customers and visitors with respect and professionalism.

3. Compliance: Adhere to all regulations and guidelines provided by the carnival organizers, including those related to setup, sales, and waste management.


VOLUNTEER AND STAFF GUIDELINES

1. Professionalism: Conduct yourself professionally and adhere to the responsibilities assigned to you.

2. Support: Assist attendees, participants, and other staff members as needed. Be proactive in addressing any issues or concerns.

3. Reporting: Report any incidents, safety concerns, or violations of this code of conduct to the appropriate authorities or event organizers.


 CONSEQUENCES OF VIOLATIONS

1. Warnings: Minor violations may result in a verbal or written warning.

2. Removal: Serious or repeated violations may result in removal from the carnival without a refund.

3. Legal Action: Any illegal activities will be reported to the authorities and may result in legal action.


REPORTING AND ASSISTANCE

1. Reporting: If you experience or witness any violations of this code of conduct, report them to event staff or security personnel immediately.

2. Assistance: For assistance, visit the information booths or contact event staff. We are here to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
